i am working with my system for 12 hours without stopping. when i shutdown my system. it's shutdowning but again it's restarting automatically.i am unable to shutdown my system.

heck/ start/settings/control panel/power options
under advanced, just make sure it says,wen i press the power button: shutdown.
and
Disabling the “restart on system failure” feature may permit the exact cause to be isolated: Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under “Startup & Recovery,” click Settings. Under “System Failure,” uncheck the box in front of “Automatically restart.”
or

Start Regedit and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Set the value of PowerDownAfterShutdown to 1.

If the value isn't present, add it by creating the string value PowerDownAfterShutdown and setting the value to 1.

don't work for that long...give breaks at least every 3 hours....
shut down the system after 6 hours..coz u work fr 12 hrs..ok? ive never heard abt the restarting problem..perhaps it could be a fault with ur power system...check when u shut down that the power button on CPU is outside...meaning OFF...if the problem continues, try turning the main switch off....and seek professional advice..this is what i think..

strange. I would try hard shutting by holding the power button for about 10 seconds. Then turn it on and see if it'll shutdown after that hard reboot.

i do got this problem long bakc. its due to the excution of -a command which takes the computer to never shut down stage. and it will be executed only if u hav any worms in ur compuer. go to google search for worm bloster s/w . once u install that s/w it automatically kills the worm. do it. n also be sure o.s working well. just u repair that. no need of installation. now i am out of that problem.

uh oh i had that same problem. One of your your hardware might be damaged. Forgot what it was sorry coz it wasn't me who fixed my comp.

maybe you have enable the LAN switch on function in your bios?
