ok heres some animes that i like to watch.
For funny (One piece about a little boy who eats a cursed fruit which makes him a rubber boy. Mostly about pirates who are trying to get some great famous tresure. but very funny)
For love
(inuyasha about a half demon and a girl who are set in different times but come together to restore a magical jewel that got broken in many pieces.)
(card captor sakura about a girl who finds a magical book with magical creatures who cause problems in the real world.)
(D.N. angel about a young boy who becomes two people and steal artwork while trying to get the love of his life to love him back.)
(final fantasy 7 advent children don't watch this if u really haven't played the game it'll get confusing. but very cool looking)
sword fighting and just fighting
(Samurai x about a samurai who killed a lot of people and finds love.)
(Naruto about a young boy who has no parents and inside of him is a fierce demon fox. Ninja thing funny and action

Samurai 7 sucks, so don't watch that.
Try Rurouni Kenshin. A good mix of action, comedy, and romance. The fighting gets very technichal, which is good, the comedy is very funny (especially in Japanese) and the romance is very romantic.
