It's an important question - but what's with the people-centricity? Let's get some alternative perspectives on this issue:

WE'RE ASKING THE APPLE:

'Have you ever been rudely evicted from a fruit basket, washed under a tap, then been cruelly assaulted by mammalian incisors, following which half a worm crawled out of you and said: 'Hey, my headache's gone, all of a sudden! Cool!'?

WE'RE ASKING THE WORM:

'Have you ever been sleeping soundly, curled up in a nice warm apple core, when the roof literally got yanked off your head by a giant red vacuum cleaner lined with teeth, and you suddenly lost all sensation in your top or bottom end - assuming you can tell the difference?'

Let the victims join the debate, I say.

Amen.

No and I'm really glad because I wouldn't be able to eat an apple for a while if that happened. I once cut open a bell pepper and i thought i saw it move a few times and I thought I was going crazy but when I went to wash it there was a worm in it that was exactly the same color as the bell pepper.

Yeah l did when l was a kid, but unfortunately there was only half a worm left inside the apple. I haven't eaten a worm since. Thanks for reminding me.Now it's going to be another 20 years without apples.

No I have not. However, once I drank from a can of pepsi, and what I thought was a worm was in my sip. I freaked out, threw up, gagged for 20 minutes.

Then I remembered I put a candy cigarette in the can of pop and felt dumb.
But I feel those who have eaten actual bugs.

I think I would rather bite into that apple, than to have bit into a Lean Cuisine Salmon w/ Basil Entree and found half a mouse in it!!

No, but I was in a Chinese restaurant and I dug my fork into a salad and a cockroach jumped out. It freaked me out! I couldn't continue eating.
