Hopefully, we are clean when we use a towel to dry ourselves; however towels need regular washing because bathroom towels are thicker and take longer to dry and are, therefore, more prone to the growth of fungi. Bathrooms are humid and warm places where micro-organisms thrive. A big, fluffy towel can actually take a while to dry. This is important for actual health issues such as toe nail fungus ( http://www.toenailfungus.org/ ) and other common "sports" rashes.

Hee hee... good one!

That's the point - if you are indeed clean, then the towel stays clean.

But you leave it damp, and you also leave it with some of your dead skin cells that naturally come off... or hair... etc... and that makes for a funny smelling towel after some time!

i really don't think you have to wash them all the time. i believe if you hang up your towel after you use it to allow it to dry; you could use that towel for weeks. eventually i would suggest using a new towel; not because it's dirty, only because it seems to be the right thing to do.

Towels need to be regularly washed as to remove skin cells, hair, stains and odors, etc.
