I can't work out whether it is worth mentioning to people of not

I was in the States last year for a month, and whenever someone realised I was British, they asked me two things in conversation;

What do you guys think about having a Queen rule over you?
How do you feel about Prince Charles re-marrying?

They seem very passionate about it over the pond.

I'm glad we have a monarchy, It makes us British, besides, if we got rid of the monarchy, we'd have to change the names of so many things, including our Nation (United KINGDOM, ROYAL Air Force, ROYAL Navy, RSPCA, RAC, RSPB etc etc)

I honestly serve Queen and Country.

I love the Royal Family. Living in Thailand it's great to see how the people here respect & cherish their King and the rest of the Royals. Same goes for most European countries who still have a monarchy, especially the Scandinavans. Makes me sad to think how the British treat theirs! No one has respect for anyone/anything anymore. It's a great tradition and even though many complain about the money they receive from tax payers(that includes me!), they also bring in a lot through tourism, etc. Although I do agree that there are too many 'Royals' who should be made to work more for their money(e.g. Michael of Kent). Just because you are related to the Queen around twenty corners should not mean you should sponge of her.Long live the Queen!

I already answered this under Does the British monarchy waste our money?

Here it is again:
You Brits are insane. A columnist in one of your newspapers advocated dumping the monarchy because it's outdated and sends the wrong message for a democracy or some such crap. He also wanted to sell all the artworks to help support the poor "pensioners", etc.
I wanted to write back to him that this was a fine answer because here in the good 'ol US of A we don't have ANY poor retired people because we don't have a monarchy. We are all rich here in the US!
Tell you what, we'll trade you your Queen and you can take Georgie, okay? That will surely solve all your problems.
This goes for Australia too.

I am not British nor American... and i think that monarchies are obsolete in our days because Integration degrees that the European continent is having means to have a single president that really does something on government and that takes part on economic situations, not just for having fun on social celebrations and putting a beautiful face for a magazine picture. Who talks about royal blood if they´re supposed to predicate with the example of equality and fairness?

"...here in the good 'ol US of A we don't have ANY poor retired people because we don't have a monarchy. We are all rich here in the US!"

Are you daff?! Look around you! Half your country is in poverty. I assume you are Ivy League, New Englander?

In answer to the question, I think it really depends who you talk to. A lot of people view monarchy as obselete, while others see it as a great preservation of history. It depends if you're talking to someone who's a foreward thinker or a hopeless romantic.

britain needs to become a republic fast, there is no need for a royal figure head. i'm irish so i cant really say how i feel about foreign royals as it's none of my business. but there are british people out there who are more deserving to be a representative of britain like those who work a 40 hour week and still volunteer to work in childrens hospices at weekends. or cleaners who have done the same job for 40 years without missing a day and are so proud of their job you could eat your dinner of the floor.

The Queen's fab. The rest are seedy and sordid. With allowances made for the younger ones, who hopefully will turn out better than their parents.
I'm South African.

I say put 'em up against the wall and bring on the firing squad.

OK , perhaps it would be more humane to put them down gently. Or maybe stick them permanently in the Big Brother House with no possibility of eviction.

But however you do it - get rid of them!!!
