Hey you have the same issue I had, only my back USB drives would work and everytime I needed to connect a device I had to move all my computer cart back and forth. I did the same things you did and they never worked, I even thought of buying a USB extender, but I called my computer insurance and they came to fix it.
The technician had to remove and replace some parts, and at the end he told me the USB connections were not plug into the motherboard.
Call a computer technician, good luck :)

Hi I'm Garry,
It sounds like you've got the software for your USB drivers.
That's a good start.
But there could be many reasons here.
I will give you the ones I can think of
A virus, a running program in the background effecting the drivers, a bug with in the installation of the USB drivers.
Best way to go about it is download hijack this from www.download.com as it's a free program to see what's running on your pc, stop all the running programs you think you don't need to run, uninstall the usb drivers and reinstall then restart in safe mode and see if they work..
Or go safe mode now and see if the drivers work in safe mode.
There has to be a reason, more than likely the drivers are cladding with another program or hub might be damaged, you need to check everything..
If you haven't already.. don't just reinstall the drivers.. uninstall the drivers, restart the PC then install them.. don't install on top.
Try getting rid of the hub and using your usb directly, connect on device and she if it reads it..
Don't be she to message me garysoliman@yahoo.com.au on yahoo messenger for further help.
I'm online right now.
I'd be happy to give you a helping hand.
Simply wishing you the best of luck,
Garry

Very first i would suggest you install ur usb drivers.
It would be there is the cd which would have been provided with ur motherboard.
Above that i would suggest you to disable the driver using device manager and then reinstalling it.
If it still wont work then you the top most solution of formating ur PC.
If it still give up then understand there so hardware default only and u may need to repair ur motherboard.
Bye .........

first try with using one device which is self powered e.g digital camera which does not draw power from CPU. If that device works, you need to replace you USB hub with one which comes with power adopter.
I had a similar problem that got resolved by using self powered hub.

Make sure the power supply is plugged in on the hub. Maybe you accidently knocked out the plug.
