Its no where near 80mill, its nearer 60 .

I think we need to keep an eye on it , i wouldn't llike to see more than 65mill.

Overcrowding causes many social probs, we need the open spaces to escape.

Why is this government encouraging people to have kids by giving them payments from birth ... they have lost the plot.

BTW , there isn't a billion in the US either, less than half that

The whole world should be cutting the birth rate, we haven't got the resources on this planet to provide the power , the food and water ... its madness, and no you aint talking bollox as a shi t for brains below me has said ... he hasn't got a clue.

There is almost as much emigration as immigration and the birth rate is low. Also many of these immigrants will be taking jobs nobody else wanted anyway and contributing through taxes which will help pay the pensions of are ageing population.

28 million cars wouldn't matter if we could use green fuels instead of petrol

No England isn't turning into a concrete jungle

No women shouldn't be given an incentive not to have children as we actually need more British children otherwise we'll need even more immigrants. Or perhaps you prefer a one child law like China.

In short you are talking bollocks! there are FAR worse places for overcrowding than Britain!

devine_gem (or whatever) My step daughter is in New Zealand at the moment and she's British, so they DO accept foreigners, ah but that's OK isn't it, it's OK for us to travel overseas for work. We have at least 2 million people working overseas at the moment so why can't people come here to work?
We have far too many indigenous people that won't get out of bed for less that £7 an hour because they are better off scrounging off the dole and us tax paying workers. People are living longer and retiring earlier, the birth rate is declining (FACT) therefor there's going to be a huge shortage of labour in the foreseeable future which will have a detrimental effect on the economy.
Eastern Europeans and alike are welcome in my book, they are prepared to do the jobs us Brits wouldn't entertain.
The problem we have over here is the government, they make it far far too easy for people to live extremely comfortable scrounging off the state. They should give someone 6 months on the dole and then stop their right to benefits because there ARE jobs out there, if their benefits were stopped they would be leaping out of bed to look for work every morning.
If a foreign national can come here and walk straight into work how come it's so difficult for a British person to find work when English is their first language?
Happychappers1, If you have a friend who's from Zimbabwe and you want all foreigners kicked out of the country, i'd hate to be your enemy. You talk the biggest load of drivel i've ever heard, front of the queues etc, tosh.

It's 60 million and increasing at 0.28% per annum.
It sounds like you live in the South East of England which is less of a life and more of a prison sentence. I don't know how you could bear it. It's really quite a big island and almost none of it is concreted over, almost none of it is overcrowded. I'd move, if I were you. Nobody is forcing you to live in an ant-farm.

And, as for New Zealand having only local people! Sorry, I think the Maori might not share that view.

Kick everybody who was not born in the UK out!
and to supa_fly64 errrrrrrrr. America is slightly BIGGER than the UK, dumb ***!
Why does the UK let in so many immigrants? The french just said " no" and booted them out and sent them to... England!
This is not being racist, it is a simple fact! We Britons get nothing but cr^pped on, while if you are an immigrant, you will get a council house, the dole, housing & council tax benifit, child benifit & family tax credits!!! While we have to fight for the right to actually LIVE in our own country, if your skin isnt white all you have to say is that dreded word"Racist" My friend who is zimbabwaian, says she gets away with speeding tickets ( when caught by an actual copper ) , gets prefeantial treatment in hotels, queues etc ... because of her skin colour ( while she does not agree with the princable about this, she still uses it to her advantage ).
Briton is over crowded/over populated, and we should shut the gates on people who want to enter the uk. The only time we should give a visa/work permit out is when that person can make a proper contubution to socity, IE: doing a well sought after job like a doctor/nurse or something that we have a shourtage of inthe uk.

over pop simply means the land is unable to support the population, either by housing , feeding, employing etc. as pop grow more pressure is put on schools hospitals etc and pushes down wages leading to resentment and conflict. one time if you wanted to employ someone with 2 years experience and you could not find anyone you dropped to 1 year or would train someone up, now you have thousands of guys with 10 years exp willing to come here and work for pennies. immigrants often live in poor housing do dirty dangerous jobs for a low pay then the govenment says we should do the same.
ie
girl in tescos supermarket sits on till all day is nice and warm comfy chairin clean airconditioned building hardly breaks sweat.
migrant doing backbreaking labour in muddy field in all weather.
both get minimum wage is this fair, No so do we raise his wage or lower hers? guess which one the bosses choose?

Its strange that as buisness becomes more automated we are suppose to need more migrants were we not always told we would be working less hours. were we not told back in 70-80s that it was irrisponsible to have big families because of the problems of overpopulation to the country and the planet.

So many inaccuracies:
1. Britain has approx 60m people and employment levesl suggest it is not too many. Indeed, when I used to live there (not so long ago) it was only immigrant (legal) workers from elsewhere in europe who were willing to take on any domestic jobs like cleaner, gardener, handyman etc
2. the person who suggested USA has almost a billion people....try about 300 million.
3. the person who said 4m people in NZ made that a lovely place.....how do you explain the huge number of kiwis who have left and are living as permanent expatriates in Australia and UK amongst other places. They seem to have concluded that natural beauty aside, perhaps NZ is not the ideal place to live.

Britain's immigration policies are focused on social re-engineering. Since they have opened their border 700,000 polish have come to Britain's shores seeking work. Britain is focusing on reducing the number of non-white immigrants from outside the EU while providing unrestricted access on white immigrants within the EU. Perhaps, it would be wiser to have a common policy on immigration that everyone should adhere to, whether from inside or outside the EU. However, due to certain overcrowded cities in which racial minorities from Asia and Africa have become majorities, this seems to be Britains best strategy to socially re-engineer the country.

As long as there are lazy British people who refuse to work and would rather leach off the rest of us, there will always be a need to 'import' people to do the work that they won't.

As for financial incentives for childless people, I would like to see what happens when they get old and infirm and need someone to wipe their arses - they'll be glad that other people had children then!

There are plenty of unused and under-developed areas of this country which could be turned into wonderful communities, if we had the will to welcome people rather than display our xenophobia. This country has always had immigrants (the Vikings, the Romans, the French etc), and each has contributed something remarkable and individual.

40 million is what should be in Britain. You are way overpopulated. Stop importing the 3rd world people who tend to have 5-9 kids each and end up on the dole.
