the fact that u even know how to type an duse the interney shows ur not an 'old' 56 year old.im sure u like to luk young and hip but not to the extent wer u start wearin wat ur kids or even ur randchildren will be wearing.I think heels are the best weapons the make u taller for one and wen u glide in them you'll look stunning. and about skirts and trousers, my answer would be yes, because skirts show of a little or a lot(dependin on hw u feel) of ur legs, for ur age the mini skirt is out.lol.maybe a skirt right above the knee or a like 2 inches higher wud be nice. Pick trousers that accentuate ur figure, u want to tell people that ur sexy and proud, plus it shows them ur not sum boring old lady.lol.BUT they shouldnt be too tight or too shortitl luk tacky. most importantly though u need to feel good in watever ur wearin, once uv got that its good to go, but feel good and look sexy at the same time.

I would suggest what you wear is less about your age and more about your body type and style. So maybe you should avoid mini-skirts and leather pants - (although a lot of women should).
If you have wider hips or large legs, an A-line skirt without pleats may be a nice way to go - just above the knee if you are comfortable with that.
Pants can be flattering but harder to fit. A low-rise waist can look good on smaller hips and tummies and un-pleated pants with a slight flare in the leg can minimize the look of larger thighs and bum.
Wearing a slightly pointed shoe will draw the eye down the leg and add a lengthening effect.
You can wear a print piece without looking like and island tourist by choosing something that has a single picture on it (like a flower along the side of a skirt) or by adding a colourful belt/ sash to the piece.
Good luck - remember, feeling good makes you look your best!

Well, Weed, you should wear what you feel comfortable in. I personally would NEVER wear big print patterns, why do you feel you should (unless it is a subdued tiedye possibly)? Is someone trying to force you to wear big print patterns? I would say you should wear either trousers/skirt depending on the place you are wearing them to...some places are more formal than others, such as work, where a skirt might be more appropriate.

Skirts have got the space to carry off big prints. It looks silly on trousers if half/part of the big print is disappearing around your leg, or is cut in half by the seam.

Wear what you feel most happy in. My mum is 51 and she dresses like she is 21 lol.
I think a nice pair of dark blue jeans and a trendy stretch shirt would look cool, but sophisticated. But for summer, how about a knee length wrap-around skirt with a pretty fitted top?
Take care : )

you don have to dress 56 to be 56 and vice versa.
clothes should be a reflection of how you feel inside, not your age. you go with what feels good for you. whether you wanna look sexy, attractive, professional, aloof etc etc... its your style. dont let something like age dictate your dressing.
p.s. darling... big print patterns is so 7 seasons ago...

Dear, if you have made it to 56 and you can't figure out a simple thing like this, well, may God have mercy on your soul! No wonder the younger group thinks the fifty-somethings are senile! If they can't figure out what to wear by middle-age, well, there is no hope!

Why don't you try the personal shopping service that some department stores offer? They will give you advice about what suits you - your shape and colouring etc. I believe it is a free service but you do have to book it.

it all depends on your shape and size. if you are thin then you would go for trousers and go for pinstrip they quite fashionable but if you are large then you shoud rather gor for skirts but not tight fiting more like a kind of flair that accentuates curves not increase. never go for florals of big prints, they just old-fashioned and NASTY!
