Many good answers here but one point missed. Some cherry trees need a polinator tree..if the variety you planted is one of those and there is not a proper pollinator around then they will never produce. If the tree you planted is a self pollinator then the rule of thumb for most fruit trees is 5-7 years before they reliably produce fruit.

Cherries bear fruit on long lived spurs. It usually takes the third or fourth season after planting for a crop. Before that you may see a few cherries but not a full crop. Most importantly, if your cherry tree is a sweet variety, you need another sweet variety to cross pollinate with that tree. Without cross pollination, you will not get any cherries. If there is a neighbor in your area with a cherry tree it will pollinate your tree and then you will only need the one tree. I hope this helps and enjoy the cherries!!! They're my favorite!!!

Your guess is a good as anyones.

We had a Cherry Tree in your garden, it was cut down two years ago, in it's 30 plus years it NEVER had cherries on it.

THAT DEPENDSON HOW OLD THE TREE IS, BUT I WOULD SAY YOU HAVE TOTRY TO NET IT OR THE BIRDS WILL STRIP IT OF ALL THE FRUIT, I ALWAYS TRY TO PLANT ONES THAT ARE DWARF WHICH MAKES IT EASIER TO NET,
ANOTHER TIP I DO IS EVERY WEEK I ADD A TABLE SPOON OF SUGAR TO THE WATERING CAN AND ITMAKES THE CHERRIES EXTRA SWEET,
