naaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! they are celebrities..people tend to forgive them..fans tend to forget their escapades....

ALLEGATIONS that police in Malibu tried to cover up an anti-Semitic outburst by Mel Gibson are to be investigated by an independent review body.
The actor and director was stopped for alleged drunk driving early on Friday. A bottle of tequila was reportedly found on the back seat of his car.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that Mr Gibson had been pulled over while speeding at 87mph (140km/h) and arrested “without incident”.

But according to a website, the arresting officer’s original report said: “Gibson blurted out anti-Semitic remarks about ‘f***ing Jews’ [and] yelled out ‘The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world,’ then asked: ‘Are you a Jew?’ ”

Mr Gibson, 50, who directed the controversial film The Passion of the Christ — interpreted by some as blaming the Jews for the execution of Jesus — has already apologised for his “despicable” behaviour.

However, the apology was overshadowed by the publication of a section of the arresting officer’s handwritten report. The extract, on TMZ.com, suggested that the original report had been heavily edited.

James Mee, the arresting officer, wrote that Mr Gibson’s behaviour was highly emotional from the moment he pulled him over. His report says: “Gibson angrily stated . . . ‘My life is f***ed’ . . . [and] became fixated on his notoriety and the concern that this incident was going to be publicised. In order to calm Gibson’s concerns, I directed [him] to the back seat of the patrol car, telling him that, if he remained co-operative, I would interview him without handcuffing.”

At this point Mr Gibson appears to have attempted to flee.Deputy Mee wrote: “Gibson bolted . . . as he said ‘I’m not going to get in the car’.”

The officer caught Mr Gibson, who stopped resisting but is reported to have begun verbally abusing and threatening the officer, saying: “You motherf***er. I’m going to f*** you. You’re going to regret you ever did this to me.” The tirade allegedly continued inside the car, where the anti-Semitic outburst allegedly took place.

Mike Gennaco, head of the Office of Independent Review, told the Los Angeles Times that an investigation would begin today into the apparent editing of the report. “All that stuff about favourable treatment is something that needs to be looked at,” he said. “I’d like to see if there was a legitimate law enforcement reason for asking that the report be altered.”

He added that he would also look into Mr Gibson’s financial links to the department. In 2002 Mr Gibson served as a “celebrity representative” for the Star Organisation, which provides financial aid to the children of Sheriff’s Department officers killed while on duty.

Sheriff Lee Baca told the newspaper there was no cover up, saying: “Our job is not to [focus] on what [Mr Gibson] said. It’s to establish his blood-alcohol level when he was driving and proceed with the case.”

Mr Gibson issued a lengthy apology over the weekend.

Let's think about this for a second here...there is still no proof. It's heresay from a cop, who, I believe, IS Jewish and the tape recording is only from before and after his alleged anti-Jew rant. Take into consideration that Gibson was drunk...and admits that he said some dispicable things (which I bet he doesn't remember). There was an article in the paper that totally screwed things up about what Mel Gibson's father said in the past regarding the Holocaust and then some talk about the movie "Passion of the Christ" and how Gibson hired Jewish people to play those that crucified Jesus and some such nonsense. ANYONE that knows their history...and I'm talking about their seriously researched history...would know that being Jewish didn't mean anything to Jesus because Jesus was Jewish, Catholics and Jews were both victims of the Holocaust, and Catholics take a great deal from Judaism (including the guilt and the solemn method of worship)...AND Mel Gibson is Catholic. For crying out loud....if it were me or someone from NOWHERE making a comment about Jews in a derogatory way it would be nothing but a slap on the wrist and maybe a frown from the officer, but due to the fact that Gibson is an actor (and extremely famous) he's being held to a higher standard, when in fact, he is a HUMAN and just as prone to making mistakes as the next guy with a stressful job.

As far as the charges go...legally it shouldn't go past assaulting an officer (verbally, but sure, it's still assault), disorderly conduct (if it was really that bad), and drunk driving or whatever the heck he got pulled over for...

Who cares if it's done his career damage...I'd rather hear about something USEFUL in the news instead of something that will be added to trivial pursuit.

Didn't know he had made such an outburst! How many people reading and answering this have never made an offensive comment about / to someone whilst drunk?? Just because he is recognised, it becomes a big deal. Walk through a city centre at pub closing time on a Saturday night and tell me no-one else is shouting offensive drunken comments. Give the guy a break! People jumped all over 'The Passion of the Christ' and suddenly took offence at the 'implication' that the Jewish people were responsible for Christ's execution. Pardon me, but that is exactly what the BIBLE tells us happened!! It was the Jews who insisted that he was crucified, the Jews who had Barabbas released - so why is it suddenly an issue?! Some people have had it in for Mel ever since!!! Bizarre!!!

Is Mel Gibson Finished? Who Knows!
All I know is I am Finished with Mel Gibson.
He is so Overrated anyway.
And he ain't NO BraveHeart either!

Drink Driving is bad enough. But Racism too. And he is supposed to be a Catholic Christian Role Model?

This is a bit like Rodney King in reverse?

Mel Gibson said "All the Wars in the World are the Fault of the Jews and Israel." This is the same Anti-Semitic rubbish that GOOD CATHOLIC ADOLF HITLER spouted.

He is an Anti-Semite Bigot who got away with it for far too long. Hutton Gibson his father is a well known Anti Semite Bigot and Holocaust Denier member of Catholic sect OPUS DEI.

Mel Gibson is even starting to take on an uncanny resemblence to Mad Bad Saddam Hussein - Just look at the picture on www.tmz.com.

And Mel Gibson has the chutzpah to make a mini series on the Holocaust. He is an overrated actor anyway.

Alcohol is obviously a good Truth serum. IN VINO VERITAS.

PS If Mel Gibson aired similar views about African Americans, Chinese or Muslims EVERYONE would be outraged.

Io_sono_paolo2000 you are a sad Anti-Semitic Bigot. SHAME ON YOU.

PPS I am DISGUSTED at all you LATENT Anti-Semitic and Racist Apologists on this site who have FAILED to CONDEMN Mel Gibson for his Disgraceful Behaviour and Outburst. He is supposed to be a ROLE MODEL and "devout" Catholic and Christian - but has displayed nothing but HATRED.

By saying Nothing and "Turning a Blind Eye" you ALL condone his behaviour, beliefs and ideas. This is exactly what happened in NAZI GERMANY. BAD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN GOOD PEOPLE SAY AND DO NOTHING.

SHAME ON ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE FAILED TO CONDEMN MEL GIBSON.

He's hurt himself, but I don't think he's finished.

The Hollywood community will try to ostracize him, but the man has tons of money and can make movies and market them independently.

The public is far more forgiving than the Hollywood community and Mel Gibson is very well liked by the public.

Many people have done things that damaged them in the public eye and were able to come back.

If he goes through rehabilitation and demonstrates future character I have no doubt that he'll be back as marketable as ever.

For his sake I hope he will straighten things out in his life and his attitudes. There are some problems very evident in this episode, but he is not the first to have had embarrassing and damaging episodes, nor will he be the last.

I feel Mel Gibson is not through. He has been in the news in the past in a very negative way......He was driving under the influence so...he is a movie star and commentators are having fun with his trouble. Also, he was speeding and saying anti Semitic outbursts. So...he is in the news and he is getting publicity. I feel that he is human like you and i but that doesn't excuse his behavior. At least he apologized and sincerely meant it. Mel is my least favorite movie star. Passion of The Christ was good. This is another subject that ticked off the people, especially the Jewish faith. The Jews did kill Jesus and that's why they where upset about the movie being Premiered. Commentators agged it on again....so it proves my point...bad or good press helps actors. Yes, Mel will be for given. I kinda feel sorry for anyone who was sober for years and decades and starts drinking again. it is an illness and i hope that he gets treatment before he kills himself or others.

I agree with one of the comments already mentioned. Everyone knows what happens when "you" get drunk. People always say things they don't mean from time to time...that's what makes us human. He's apologized enough. The only reason it's getting attention is because he is a celebrity. There's bigger issues out there that need more attention than who said what, how they said it, and what they did. Check the history of most of our former presidents and world leaders...the majority have been arrested for D.U.I's. Mel Gibson never claimed to be perfect, or without sin for that matter. I do wonder however, what society would think if each of our lives were on open display. What kind of skeletons might they find in "our" closets?

If he is finished, then we know too many of the same kind of people, Jews, are in way too much control in Hollywood.

See, as usual, people are not getting the entire story. The man made a movie about Christ and was withstood by the Jewish powers dominating Hollywood. The man lived under extreme stress because he made a movie about Christ. Why? Cause Jews hate Christianity. See, the bigotry started there, with Jewish hatred. Who are they to try and stop or pressure Mel for making a movie about Christ? They did just that. It was they who started the stress on his life. That stress was building up and hurting his career in a city dominated by Jews. When he got drunk, all of that stress just poured on out.

How does Hollywood become dominated by Jews? Who gets a movie? Who gets a promo? Who gets advanced? Why so many Jewish actors getting jobs? Are Jews promoting Jews, to the hurt of other non-Jews? Why am I anti-Semitic for pointing out bigotry?

Mel was not an anti-Semite. If he is now, surely, it's the Jews doing. How is a man supposed to respond to pressure like that? Except to hate them. (and still Mel doesn't hate them) And again, why do Jewish people have such a dominating stronghold over all the media and so many other areas of our lives?

I think he, at least temporarily, will be limited in the roles he is sought out for and cut his earning potential into a fraction of what they were before. Even if he cannot get acting gigs, he has established himself as a director and could continue on in that capacity probably without this having much impact on that career.

If he stays out of the public eye and controversy, it is likely to blow over the same way the Rob Lowe scandal did back when a homemade porno tape of group sex surfaced and one of the girls on the tape was only 16 years old. Rob was on the C list for several years and did a slew of television work, but stayed out of public controversy and was able to reclaim his place as a A list actor in about five years.

What i think is interesting is that it's okay that Madonna can 'simulate' a Crucifixion, thorns and all in on-going concerts, most recently in Rome, but Mel Gibson gets drunk and says some things and he's anti-Semitic. Anyone know what you call someone like Madonna who practicing the Kabbalah? Things that make you go hmm....
