Does America see Hezbollah as the equivalent of the Viet Cong and is that why they want to defeat them so much

Is America still pissed off about losing in Vietnam and are therefore trying to gain a victory elsewhere? When will they realise that people don't want to be dictated to by the US and they aren't exactly a truly democratic country.

Hezbollah's are nothing but terrorists plain and simple..They do not represent even 10% of Lebanese people. They are Religious Zealots, and by the way it is Israel fighting them DUMB-ASS!!!!!!!

For many reasons NO. Viet Cong where as Hezbollah liberators of their land and country, and this might be the cause you raised the question. The times are different in Vietnam war the issue was liberation from an occupying force now it is liberation from an aggressive oppressor and a tool the US uses. The religious beliefs are very different associated with the on the ground reasons it makes it something else. The Americans lost in Vietnam due to fear of pushing more and to avoid a long and exhaustive war. Here the differential is someone else is doing the dirty work for the US, Israel hence the emotional and feelings of loss of life are far less, bear in mind that Americans are globally ignorant of international politics. Do not forget that it is a very good business to replenish arms through the US Military Industrial Complex those are the real rulers of the US and want more and more money.

And are you a fool? It's not the US attacking Hezbollah (which by the way, if you havent yet realized, is a terrorist group) it's Israel attacking Hezbollah. The US has had little or almost nothing to do with that war. Plus, Hezbollah isn't equivalent to the Viet Cong. Vietnam was decades ago, I don't think we're still pissed about the loss and I don't think that we're out to claim a victory elsewhere.

Seriously, we're in Iraq NOT Lebanon or Israel. And the reason we're there is because of 9/11 in which we were attacked by a terrorist organization, Al Qaeda. And it's no Vietnam situation, we were attacked; thousands of people died. Get your facts straight before you put up questions like this. Thanks.

Hezbollah could not hold a candle to the red army of the Viet Cong, they (the Cong) where no matter how you put it soldiers fighting in a war, with warriors on both side clearly identified.

Hezbollah, is a terrorist group that not only uses it unconventional warfare on it enemy there in the mid east and other where, but on its own people, they are will to kill and sacrifice whomever they want. What they want is the power of peoples lives, they have carved out a niche where they can get monies and power and fame and "work" (all be it killing) because the governments of the desert people refuse to do anything to help their own people or give them a future with a promise of tomorrow being better.

and capitalism.
it was about ideology.

we lost the war militarily , that much is true.
while today, vietnam does have a communist government,
they have embraced capitalism and are a rising
economic nation that will soon see coming more to fore
on the world stage.

North Veitnamese gorillas were called Viet Cong, was not religion based terrorists and were fully trained commando forces. Hisbollah is a gang of inslovent Islamic terrorists and want to take revange on Israel for not accepting certain conditions laid to Israel!

1. Islamic Terrorists bombed Kuwait city - Kuwait is also a Islamic state.

In Vietnam the vietcong were fighting for liberty, equality and self rule!
There was no terorism involved and it was a fight to control their land.

If put this in a score card:

If Vietcong score + 100% (plus One Hundred)
Islamic Jihadis & Terrorists score -500% (minus Five Hundred)

They were having suprior discipline and fighting capability. Americans were scared of the war fare that Veitcong was adopting.

Vietcong had an excellent battle field planiing and execution capabilty ----- It was having a government in exile and was having a constituion lead by Air Marshal Hochi Minh.

Strange. I could've sworn it was Israel attacking, not America.

Also would've thought it was in retaliation for terrorist attacks. Israel is invading Lebanon (where Hezbollah is based), which is a sovereign, democratic state.

But to answer the America invading everywhere else question, I think the primary problem in the states currently, is having a president who hears god talking to him.

In almost every other country in the world, whis would end you up in an asylum.

Hezbollah is a terrorist group. They have taken over the Lebanon government. Hezbollah attacked Israel. We are allies with Israel and we are fighting against Terrorist groups. I don't know if Vietnam has anything to do with our actions today.
