Because your parents were (and probably still are) black, of course. Was this meant to be a philosophical question? Then I gotta ask what's worse about being black than being white? I mean, I know history and all that, but we are talking 21st century now, and anyone who thinks there's something wrong with being black is in a distinct minority -- just like your grandparents were called a "minority," whatever the population figures of the particular area where they lived might have been.
You've heard all the rhetoric about black pride, surely. And certainly there are many black heroes you can look up to; more than there are Pennsylvania Dutch heroes for me, at least that anyone knows their name. But that's the point, isn't it? For you all black people are considered the same; for most whites, it's broken down into smaller units. Maybe being black is to learn about a sense of solidarity; a sense of common cause with a larger group, rather than the smaller and smaller divisions we whites are forced into.
I won't go so far as to say I envy you your color; but I will say you are far more fashionable these days than I am!

To make you feel better about anything you achieve in life even more. You don't have to live in an inferiority complex once you realize the endless possibilities you can tap into. So start tapping and forget about being black like you do almost every morning when you wake up.

Who can say, outside of the answers you have already received here, but I would hope that there is such a thing as reincarnation and that we experience being born into different races and even sexes, that at the end of our journey we can see that we are all the same.

Because your parents were born black. That would give you little other choice.
And it's o.k. to be black. I'm not black, but I have worked with some black people, and I do see that sometimes they are discrimintated agianst.

mayb one of your parents were black or fair-skinned. or mayb you're like my sister where you just came out that way. everyone thought she'd be a guy, but instead she came out looking very fair-skinned. my parents were both very white, especially my dad. and i was the one who turned out being almost completely white. i hate it! i keep turning red in the sun, literally just like a lobster. not to mention how much it stings, and then theres the peeling skin, just when i feel i'm getting darker, and the skin goes back to where it was before.. white. i wanna know why this happens to me myself, but the fact of the matter is, i'll probably never really find the real answer behind this.

Its genetic, normally when both of partents are black then child will also be. But when one of them is other complexion then the child may be of either parent's color.
