I had such a commotion last night! I bought a pram yesterday and it was sat in my car for hours because all the women I know were telling me not to take it into my house because it bad luck (which I had never heard of) and my partner was like "oh I dont believe in bad luck, just bring it in". I ended up taking it to my mums. But my question is has anyone else heard of this, is it just an old superstision?

A pram is a seat you push a baby around in!!
I have already brought other baby stuff into the house. I just got paranoid by all the women telling me not to!!

Don't bring it in untill the baby is born , normally it would be ok but now your eyes are open to the superstition if anything happens you will blame yourself for bringing the pram inside the house too early . If someone had not pointed this old wives tall out too you you would have been none the wiser and future events would be seen as acts of god instead of your mistakes . If you are superstitous which it sounds like you are , keep the pram around mothers for now .

Are you still pregnant? I assume so. I was told the same thing with the addition of a cot as well, it is an old wives tale it supposedly can be bad luck for the baby/expectant mother to bring a pram or cot into the house before the baby's birth, if you are not superstitious don't worry about it.
Good luck with new baby!

Yes it goes back years when someone brought a pram and the baby died so it was deemed bad luck but it is just an old wives tale.
Lots of these come from the 1900's enjoy being a mum.

This is an old wives tale, brought about by supersticious old wives-who l may add believed in it too.
In this day and age if we adhered to old wives tales, we wouldn't be doing much-let alone getting pregnant!!!
I was also plagued by this tale when l had my first 2 of my 5 children - my mother and mother-in-law placed such pressure on me not to take a pram into my house, they bought me a new pram for each of the first 2 pregnancies!!!! From the 3rd to 5th pregnancy they left me to ot - l think they cottoned on to my manipulating the situation!!!
Rest assured that its a silly supersticion, which isnt going to affect you or your unborn baby - dont let it worry you, just enjoy the remaining time of your pregnancy! I hope all goes well for you and baby.

My mom was very superstitious but when my youngest brother was born his pram was in the house for about 3 months before his birth, he grew up perfect and beautiful, its just a silly old faddy superstition, my theory is that in the days it was first hurled round the poor pregnant women of this world the prams were so massive anyhow and you were likely to fall over it cause it took up so much room, I would do what you feel is right in your heart, but please remember your pregnant and your blood pressure and stress levels need to stay nice and relaxed, so a bit of advice enjoy your pregnancy and take no notice of all these silly superstitions or you'll have sleepless nights and be too tired to enjoy your baby when it arrives, good luck and hope everything goes great for you and your baby, just enjoy this quiet time ok.

It's supposed to be bad luck, if you believe in such things, to bring a pram into the house because it 'tempts fate'. I would like to know how we are supposed to get things ready for baby if we're not allowed to bring anything into the house before it's born! Take no notice and get your nursery ready for your arrival, otherwise you'll be caring for a new baby and trying to get stuff together - not a good idea! Good luck!

You know some pretty weird people. Of course you need to take your pram into your house. Where do you think everyone else puts their prams when not in use? Round at the local multi storey pram parking? In pram storage? Chained to a lampost outside the house?

Do whatever you want to do. Don't let superstition spoil a very special time in your life.
We kitted out our entire house in anticipation for our baby girl. She's nearly 2 now, and is 100% perfect.
Enjoy your baby before he/she's born too, there is no Old Wives Tale that says you have to wait until after.
Good luck
