Far more than you#'d think. It's difficult to find a woman these days who hasn't been raped or abused in some way.
Who knows why they do it. I guess it's a power thing

I don't think rape is all that mysterious. I guess because I am a man, I know testosterone, and male hormones toward sex. It is not really a wonder why a man would force his sexuality on another if he sees no other way.
Check out prisons, this happens all the time. Yes I'm sure dominance is part of it, but sexual urge must be triggered in order for the rape to happen.

One is far too many.
But if you want an exact number, start counting:
Both male and female rapists...
all ages...
every kink...
in every settlement...
every culture....
every educational program...
every trusted organization...
You may even find one sitting on the Rape Victim's hot line, unaware that listening to these stories, offering a shoulder to cry on, loving to be there so much, is hiding his own dark, sinister secret desire.
Fact is, we all have it in us to take what we want and damn the rest of the world. It is the deranged animal within us all.
What makes us human is having the ability to snap that animal in the nose and put it in its place. aka say "That's just wrong" and never think of it again.
I don't know how to explain those who don't snap that beast in its place. Seems that it's the deranged animal that has control.
according to the reports...
1 out of every 3 women have been sexually assaulted in their life time.
1 out of every seven men have been sexually assaulted in their life time.
And those are the numbers of the REPORTED cases.
But, anyway, that's what I have to say on the subject.

I think it is a very much valid and an important question. I think we need to inspect the mind of the rapist. We need to see his strike pattern and make the necessary changes in our thought patterns, daily routines, architecture, laws and jurisdiction.
Is it true that we are too gullible when it comes to trusting people?
Or that we are too ignorant and apathic when it comes to the pain that others suffer from?

I have never met an eagle scout that wasn't accused of raping little boys.
And they just kinda seem to get away with it even if there are several witnesses People are just too embarrassed to report them.
I'm probably being cynical but I bet like one out of every 750 people is a rapist.
Either that or I have been unlucky.
Never raped or been raped but I have known people who have been.
