this is what I do. tell them to write out a check to you and date it the day they want you to deposit it. then borrow them the money. If they just want you to give them money and not borrow it they wont go for this idea.

Yes, I have loaned money to family and most of the time they don't pay me back. You can tell them you don't have the money to loan them if you don't want to.
