You can do that...I took accounting 210, 220, and 230 which is required for entrance into most business programs and they teach you how to do basic accounting.

This includes topics such as T accounts, and gives you an understanding of what assets, liabilities, and owner's equity is all about.

Debits and credits.

Then I hear it gets a lot harder in the 300 and 400 level courses. So, college students will understand accounting by taking accounting classes.
