It would be easier to physically go to your branch and close the account down in person ........... a 5 minute job! If you can't get to the bank, then a phone call and a letter would be required.
If you are changing banks, then banks like www.smile.co.uk will manage the transfer and close for you.

Just go in and close it or do it over the phone if you can BUT beware, if you have ever given your account number to a place for automatic withdraws (sp?) and they run it for their monthly/yearly, etc. payment some banks will allow it to go through and charge you an overdraft fee or charge you for trying to get payment from a closed account. Why they allow transactions to a closed account I do not know but this happened to a business account I handled for my boss a few years ago.

they desire to make certain your financial business enterprise and reductions debts because of the fact they only might desire to pay JSA in case you have decrease than £sixteen,000 in 'reductions' (and JSA is 'decreased' in case you have over £8,000). in case you refuse to instruct them, they are going to assume you're hiding money OR hiding huge-unfold earnings (which factors to you having a activity) and supply up your JSA .. they don't care what you spend the JSA on = it quite is meant to be for 'residing expenses' & that would desire to be practically something ..
