I have found a glue that is great for gluing embellishments, like flowers onto handbags and would like to glue grosgrain ribbon on as well. Do ribbons need to be stitched on? or is gluing a proper production procedure? I am trying to do this myself to save money rather than have a factory or sewer do it. It needs to be REALLY strong and not fall off because I'd like to sell them. I want them to look like the ribbon bags at www.kathyfagan.com. Can I glue? Help.

Sure - go for it - great idea!
There are lots of differnet kinds of glues. There is even fabric glue, which is specially made for what you are looking at doing. It is very strong, and can even be washed! I sew a lot, and there are certainly cases where professional seamstresses use glue instead of sewing, so don't worry about it looking cheap.
I suggest you ask in a good crafts store what glue they would recommend (it's best if you bring a handbag and ribbon with you, so they can see the materials themselves).
Alternatively, check out the websites below for info. about differnet kinds of fabric glue.
Make one and carry it for a week - you'll see pretty quickly if the glue is holding - as soon as you find one that does - go for it and sell them!

I would suggest stitching because the glue will show thru ribbon. That will take away from the professional look you are trying to achieve. A single stitch would be sufficient to hold them in place.

it is better to sew if you're using grosgrain.
that type of ribbon is what ballerinas use on their pointe shoes, imagine using glue...!
besides, with stitches you can create really nice patterns. like if your ribbon is white and your sitches are black.

Yes, you can, I have a small home made crafts store myself. Tip: Minimalism here is the key, you don't want it to look garrish or like a four year old's arts and craft project.

I think you probably could. I would make a bag, carry it for a week or so and see how it holds up. Maybe your friends would be willing to do the same.

well it all depends are you better at glue or needle and thred
and if you glue make sure you dont see it dried up
