I dont get it, we are 80% water but run when it rains and we can get in a swimming pool and the water doesnt hurt us, so why act like water drops are such a big deal. Great question.

I have never seen people try to duck... but it would be a good thing to BE in the rain....(Quack!)
I have seen people run to get out of the rain, and I guess they do that so that they will get hit by less rain....

Have you ever had ice put down your shirt? Well, thats kind of the same response you see when people duck in the rain...most of the time it is cold.

They duck because they do not want the rain to get in their face. It's hard to see without an umbrella with rain buffeting your face.

hmmm ...interesting question. I totally do it too, I don't know why. Maybe cuz when the rain hits the back of the head it's not as cold as it is when it hits the top...I really don't know, but I'm sticking with that theory.

I'm guessing you tuck yourself into a "ball" to conserve heat, like when you're cold (after all, most of the time when it's raining you ARE cold).

It is a natural human reaction to duck when something is falling from above. Like when someone yells "WATCH OUT!", you duck.

haha great question!!
i think it's just from the sudden shock of being hit by water out of nowhere. It really would make more sense to stand straight up though, that way you don't expose yourself as much.

If you duck, it won't hit you in the face or get in your eyes.
