I worked in restaurants for eighteen years before changing careers. I can't recall any incident where this actually happened. I don't deny that it occurs, but it must be extremely rare. Remember, for every insensitive vindictive moron working in a restaurant, there are many more people with respect and a conscience to prevent them from spoling someone's food. Bless you for being concerned about the staff. Most likely, everyone realizes it is Auntie Dear who is the problem and not you. That can be really difficult. I have long ago decided that when people eat out with me, they are going to know the rules. If they don't mind being rude to the waitstaff, I don't mind pointing it out to them. My ex wife, wonderful and charitable as she is, somehow manages to be a godawfully poor tipper and my present partner thinks the waiter is delighted to make a hundred trips for extra things for him. Trust me, they know my feelings on this.

I have been in the Restaurant business for over 10 years. I personally have never sabotaged anyones food (even though I may have wanted to!!!!!!!!!!!) But, I have seen people do it. They only do it to the rude persons food or drink not the others. I have only seen male servers do it, not females. I've seen big spit lugees (?) and dropping it on the floor. I have made mention to them that I didn't feel it was right for them to do that but I never went beyond that...I guess that makes me guilty by association.

I am a server and I make 2.15 an hour and put up with rude inconserdet people all day long. We call anything to get a free meal(there attitudes). But honestly no I have never done anything rude like spitting or making someone eat something that they shouldnt. Karma can come right back and bite you on the butt. Your aunt will get hers one day. ( meaning someone will be rude to her right back or she is not being rude and they are being nasty with her.) At the end of the eight hours that we put up with it we just go home and relax and wake up and do it all over again we are very blessed beings for being able to put up with it. But it is all worth it and fun.

I have worked in restaurants for the last 14 years and have never seen anyone sabotage peoples food. I simply don't have time for it. I have "accidentally" spilled drinks on people. I did once deep fry a cell phone left behind by a very rude guest.

I have worked as a server in many restaurants and I would say 85% of the time you are safe, but, I would also recommend only going to the better places with your aunt. Go to some private owned no name, cheap place and the owner will be right in there messing up your food. You need to go somewhere with good standards.

I completely comprehend what you recommend... the only logical end i've got come to concerning those circumstances is that those peopel think of that we do not have an education, yet those human beings are only ignorant.. i think of they have forgotten the days while they actually had to artwork to pay off pupil loans or to make some greater funds for a social life or maybe to make funds for college or charges. the two that, or Mommy and Daddy served them each little thing on a gold platter with diamond studs on the perimeters.. do no longer enable absolutely everyone EVER get you down.. do no longer pay attention to those human beings... they do no longer understand what they are speaking approximately!!!

I was a waitress for many years and we never did anything like that. I know of many others in the industry who would but never in the places i worked. In fact we were always exceptionally nice to people like that. It would tick them off even more.
