It can ruin the best coffee klatch - a spilled cuppa joe on the living room carpet. Don't worry! You can clean that mess right up.

Steps:
1. Blot the area with a clean, white cloth to absorb all the liquid you can. Blot from the outside of the stain in to avoid spreading the stain.

2. Mix 1 teaspoon clear, mild liquid dishwashing detergent with 1 cup lukewarm water.

3. Sponge the area with the detergent solution. Blot again with a clean, white cloth.

4. Mix 1/3 cup white vinegar with 2/3 cup lukwarm water.

5. Sponge the area with the vinegar solution. Blot with a clean, white cloth.

6. Sponge the area with clean water. Blot with a clean, white cloth.

Tips:
A clean, white cloth ensures that dyes from the cloth won't run into the carpet.

I use a product called Tuff Stuff. It takes out coffee stains, tea stains and many others. I use it on the carpet in my house and in my car. Works great and is not expensive, about $2.50 for a good size spray in a can. I get it at Wal Mart.

The above answers are my first choice for getting coffee stains out of carpet. If they don't work, you can also try a blob of foamy shaving cream (MEN'S, not what ladies use for their legs). Rub it in with a sponge and then rinse off with water. Let dry and then vacuum.

1/3 white vinegar to 2/3 warm water. use a scrubby brush and scrub some. you will see it work, hit any little spots you have while you're at it (to give it some time to set) then vaccume. the only thing i have ever had to hit with this more than once was my husband's greasy boot prints on a light beige carpet (apartment people are dumb)

Try that OXY stuff they sell in the detergent isle of most grocery stores. It seems to work on everything.
