Not sure if that makes sense. I'm selling an expensive piece of jewelry on Craig's List. I have a buyer. The jewelry is genuine. My fear is what if the person buys it, replaces the diamonds w/ fakes and then wants to return it for a refund? I'm the type of person that won't even take jewelry to a shop that doesn't have an onsite jeweler for fear they will swith my diamonds. Am I being paranoid? Once I get the money, I want to pay off some bills not hold on to it just incase they have buyers remorse. What do you think?

Be sure to list your terms on a Purchase Agreement so that there is no problem.

I wouldn't buy a piece of jewelry without some sort of guarantee on the value. So get it appraised in a good jewelry store. Send a copy of the appraisal to your buyer. Tell them they have 10 days to return it at which point you will have the jewelry appraiser check it for you to make sure no substitutions have taken place. After inspection, they'll get a refund if so desired. Spell it all out up front. Also, a jewelry appraiser might have some suggestions for how you can protect yourself. You can have diamonds or other valuable stones marked by laser with a serial number by the way.

No refund. All sales final. I used to sell my stuff on craigslist.
I sold a pair of Jordan's on there value of $600. I bought them from the mall. I had the receipt and everything. I had a buyer. They came to pick them up. And then a week later they call me saying that they are fake. They showed me the shoes. And they weren't even the ones I sold. They were tottally fakes. And he wanted his money back. Of course he didnt get a refund.People think because im a girl I don't know my shoes. A real collecter knows their shoes. But this guy tried to give me back shoes that weren't mine. I sold my coach and chanel bags on craigslist too. And too avoid all that refund crap I go to the Coach/Chanel store with the buyer to prove the authencity of the bag. So I dont have to hear from them again about some BS.
Ive had similar things that happened while selling stuff on craiglist. Just do not offer any refunds.trust me! Let them know upfront!!! people will take advantage of that offer. And it doesn;t end up pretty! Have them sign something to avoid going thru any problems. Let them know your terms of service...Period!

Good luck, be safe and enjoy selling oin CL!!! =]

just put on there that no refunds will be accepted to altered items. and then you get to inspect the item before you give a refund. and take it to a jeweler and get a cert signed by a jeweler. and then when the filthy bastard returns it take it back, and see if you could get a cert. if not then send it back with no refunds!
