Well, good for you! See, a lot of us Americans try to create a positive atmosphere around us. If we smile it tends to catch on and makes the day go by just a little better. You might wanna try it or at least return the favor if someone smiles at you.

Hi!

Not all Americans smile at each other. Perhaps people are drawn to smile at you. :)

Here is a story I once heard that is supposedly true. I think it took place in San Francisco, California.

There was guy who committed suicide by jumping off a bridge. When the investigators searched his apartment, they found a suicide letter. In the letter, the man explained how very sad and lonely he was and how he felt that the world was a hostile place not worth living in anymore. At the end of suicide letter, he stated, "I am walking to the bridge to jump off. If even one person smiles at me while I am on my way there, I will not jump off."

I guess no one smiled at him.

Sending a smile your way...
T.

Its not a fake smile, what it is is a recognition that you exist...
kind of like "hi, I see you, how's it going" that is done in just
that moment when you see me and I see you.

Good question, I don't think it is supposed to be real, it's just to acknowledge the other person.
