I have 27,000 miles but when it reaches 36,000 it will expire. If i get a warranty that will last until 72,000 miles is it worth it? They are charging me $1,330.00. My friends tell me no because its not worth it. they say that by the time it reaches 36000 miles your engine is broken in and more likely nothing will happen.

An extended warranty is really an insurance policy against major repair. Most only cover "internally lubricated parts" and maybe certain specific listed other items. (such as electronic controls).
Most have a deductible that you pay per covered repair.

You have a relatively new vehicle, and if you have maintained it well, the odds are that you will not have a major component failure. (Engine/Transmission). If you were buying the truck used, and did not know how it was taken care of, and if it had been regularly serviced, you might want to protect yourself with an extended warranty.. Seeing as you know the service history of your truck, you have an advantage here.

Unless you are extremely hard on a vehicle, or have not maintained the truck well, I would suggest that you do not buy the insurance (extended warranty) but rather take the risk yourself.

Take the money that you would pay for the warranty ($1,330) and put it in a savings or money market account. If you need major repairs, you have that money to help pay for them. If you do not, (a more likely scenario) you will still have your money and the interest it earns.

don't get the warranty, i mean, 1300 dolllars? to insure a fairly new engine? come on, if something were to fail, it would probably be a fairly low cost repair, barely worn engines do not just decide to blow up, or malfunction to the point of it not working.

I think you should get it because repairs are very expensive these days. Get one of those comprehensive warranties that cover electrical, engine and exhaust systems. you should bought this when you bought the truck, it would have been cheaper.

no those warranties are a waste of money. just put some money aside each month for maint. and keep the oil changed and chassis lubed and you will be fine.
