For the baby: The first milk that comes out is called colustrum, which gives the baby a lot of antibodies and immunities to a lot of diseases.
Breast milk is just better; breast fed babies have more bowel movements (3 or 4 a day). This might help bowel disease when they are older. It is the natural thing to do. This is really what breasts ae for.
For the mother; it easier, its ready, they don't have to make anything. Mother and baby can really bond. It is somewhat good for birth control. And the woman loses her tummy quicker.

there are so many advantages. i bottle fed my first baby, and breast fed my next 2. the bonding with my children was wonderful. (made dad a little jelious cause they always wanted mommy the milk machine...lol). also, its great for those middle of the night feedings when you have to get up. no bottles to warm and wait on. when you go shopping, you just pack your breasts and dont have to worry about how many bottles you need and keeping them warm or cold. i think the only disatvantage i had was i have really large breasts, and they did sag a little after nursing, but the benifits from the bond established between me and my babys outweighed by far any sagging of my breasts. it also helps you lose weight because you burn about 500 calories a day from breastfeeding on a regular schedule. when i say lose weight, that can happen during, or after your done. plus the antibodies that you pass to your baby help keep them from getting sick.

There are many advantages, including those that others have mentioned. Personally, I think the best advantage is the closeness you feel with the baby. I know a woman that breastfed 2 of her kids and bottle fed the other two and she said she always felt much closer to the two she nursed. There are physical advantages, but to me the best are emotional. Good Luck

In addition... it does not do your breasts any harm... i have breast fed my child for two years... i thought my breasts would sag... but they really got the way they used to be... only increased from cup B to D... now this is not bad isn't it....
also, really my son rarely gets sick, and he is so smart and balanced.... and he loves me like crazy....
And i put on 11 Kg of weight, only after a month, I lost 13 Kgs... isn't that wonderful...

I've heard your baby is also supposed to be happier but my daughter was only breastfed for about 3 or 4 weeks and the rest was all pumping. She is one of the most alert and happy babies most people have ever seen.

It is better for the baby. I breastfed my daughter and not my son. He was very constipated on formula. He also got more colds. It is easier to feed them in bed. But if it doesn't work for you, don't stress. All kids grow up fine.
