opinions are not controlled by the govt, at least not yet....going that way. Racism is the hatred of another race strictly because someone is of that color. Expressing hatred for anyone who has no control over their race is wrong...however, you are free to hate individuals if that is what you feel. Govt uses expression of some groups as "hate speech" I think it is freedom of speech.....another person wrote that you should compare it to burning down a church. this is utterly ridiculous. There is a big diff between burning down personal property and calling someone a name. Ex:If I don't like the way cubans are making this country into a spanish culture, that doesn't make me a racist. that makes me wanting to preserve our country.

Aparthied wasn't established until the English came and banned slavery. The dutch had to find a way to keep the blacks in line so they instituted a system of passcards and made a police state for the blacks and a democracy for the whites.

It is viewed as an opinion and freedom of speech in the US. Otherwise the KKK and other hate groups would not be legal. One can express their opinions but are not allowed to infringe on the rights of others. The laws don't always work.

Although i do not believe in democracy&Co...
Yes, you are right... you are free to express your opinion, your thoughts, as long there is no harm to anyone(like insult) in it. So a pedophile has also the freedom of speech, and is free to express in words his attitudes towards children. Those are gowernment laws... and they are not ethic laws.
Being racist means: being ignorant, generalizing, stupid, arrogant, inmature, suffering on the Minority or Oedipuss complex, or even Xenophoby...and so on. And those are not against the government law...
chissi...? or whatever above me there... you are a spelling jerk... do you feel errected when you see others mistakes? Probably yes... hm. God bless you and your Taxes.<<

Theres a difference between being racist and going over the line. Technically if you say its part of free speech then your okay with them burning crosses or churchees thats an expression. or spray painting walls with profanity. I believe it cant be viewed as free speech if it goes to extreme lengths to get popularity.

Racism is what you do and say thinking you are right but its not OK if its said or done by the others.
Jews in the USA will not like it to call the USA Christian country yet they call Israel a Jewish State.

Racist comments in a public forum can be considered hate speech thus voiding it from First Amendment protections.
