I love the name Adonis, and it means a male God. I always wanted to name a boy of mine Adonis because I had a beautiful black soccer instructor once named Adonis, he was from Africa and just looked like a male God. Whenever I tell people that I want to name my child Adonis because of this, they say I can't get away with it because I'm white, but that it's okay for a black person. So... if you have a boy, consider Adonis. I also love the name Tyrese and Terrell, but was told I can't name a white baby that :(. I also like the name Alaster.
For a girl I think Ebony is pretty (again I couldn't get away with this because I'm white), Brandi, and I knew a girl named Algeria... I don't think you could name a white baby Algeria, but it is pretty. I also like Isis, (one of the Egyptian Gods. Nothing to do with being black I know, I just like it).

Never knew there was such a thing. Do you mean African names? Otherwise you can name your child any name. Maybe you should consider people you look up to for inspiration. Here are some names I think are what you're looking for.
Girls: Ashanti, Kenya, Maya ....Boys: Joaquin (pronounced wah-KEEN), Songay (song-HI) and Amin

I like putting twists on traditional names. My three year old is named Jaida (like Jada). I stayed true to my roots and named my one year old Janiyah (every letter is pronounced). I say be creative but please avoid the stereotyped names.
