For me it is, your throat muscles contract from the nervousness.

get a blood test...monospot causes lumps around the neck..but if what you feel is stiffness when you swallow it could be your thyroid hormones, possibly a lump....also a neck x-ray or ultrasound would show that too, you might wanna get your vocal chords cheked too to see if you have a nodule or something

Sounds like Globus Hystericus. It is pretty common, and generally treated by treating anxiety. It is often caused by lots of stress.

If you have this sensation, you should get it checked by your doctor so that they can make sure that is what it is.
