Is windows vista goin to use the ntlm hash?
if so is there a programe to make rainbow tables that can generate ntlm?

I'm sure they are working on 'hash' though I've never heard that term, but compressed files, or better said, compressed data is the trick for improvement in the OS, but it appears since they are trying to break codes of science that have never been broken to accomplish this, then it might be awhile before it really happens. Then there are the folks that will download the beta trial version, and allow it to screw up their little private computer, and ask on here how to fix it. The best bet is to keep what you have till Microsoft has it down, and can sell it for $995 per, and make their money. Then I'll figure out how to hack a free version. Till then........

As a practical matter, Vista will be using essentially the same authentication systems as WinXP - there's really nothing new there.

Yes, there are programs to make rainbow tables. Better have *lots* of disk space, you're going to need somewhere between 750 gigabytes and 2 terabytes to get started. Rainbow tables are *huge* (do the math - figure out how many possible passwords they cover, and how big each hash is, then add at least 10% for indexing, etc...
