Memory is like a short-term storage space for holding small bits of info your computer is working on. You must want to know the difference between memory (RAM) and storage (hard-disk, which isn't memory).

Think of memory like a pad of post-it notes. You write little notes and reminders on them while you work on stuff so you don't forget. Eventually you throw the notes away and make new ones.

So if memory is post-it notes, hard drive storage is like a book. You write down the permanent things you don't want to forget or lose into the book (e.g. your documents, photos, music library, and whatever else) and they stay there all the time.
