After being in Europe the past 2 months, I must say that the USA has its problems, but so does every other country. In some cases worse than the US. So to get the truth about the US come over here and travel all over and see for yourself, sucka.

Here is what I think:

Unadultered commercialism has cheapened every aspect of life. People actually believe that sex, money, and possessions will actually make them happy. The more they can get, the happier they will be (or so the lie says). Most people exist to overconsume, which rapes the rest of the world of much needed resources. People would rather save up to get the latest iPod than to feed someone in need. The government controls with an ironfist, using fear as the major tool of manipulation. "Freedom" no longer means freedom, but it has come to mean something more like "big brother." The people are apathetic, selfish, and lazy. Those who work the hardest and longest hours have the least amount of money and can barely make ends meet. While we are technically integrated, the inner city is still mostly black and the rich are still mostly white. Men make more than women. Career is more important than family. I could go on, but I think you get the point.

I was and am both disappointed and afraid of our current leader. I didn't know the stupid could be so dangerous. Our culture, for the most part is something to be admired...at times. It still seems as though the plethoria of races still have difficulty relating to one another without hate or apology. The media...corrupt and filled will subliminal messages. We are all programmed to buy, buy, buy. Consumerism is our religion. I know what I've had to say is somewhat discouraging, but this is how I feel. And as bad as I've made it seem, I'd like to think this is the only place to be. But, having never visited much outside, I cannot really say that, can I?
