I think one of the greatest realities man has discovered is the fact that the WORLD IS ROUND and not flat, literally and figuratively.
Figuratively, well, like women can be on top while the man can be at the bottom; a woman-boss, a male-subordinate; a woman-cook, but a man is a better chef; there are men who stays home while the women brings home the bacon. Today, you cry, tomorrow, you smile.
See, man discovers that the world is round everyday.

I would say the greatest discoveries or inventions of prehistoric man are as follows: Fire, Pottery, Basic Loom, Ard (primative type of plow), Wheel, Metalworking, Carpentry, and Brickmaking.
