If you are talking about wood for your fireplace, make sure it is stacked where the air and wind can get to it. This will help it dry out. Wood that has been split dries quicker than wood that hasn't been split.

In the meantime, gather some dead wood for kindling in order to get your fire started.

Good luck with your firewood.

if you are making a camp fire, start the fire with some dry branches and small sticks. then make a tent over the fire with the wet/green wood, and it will dry it out and soon it will start to burn. You may need to keep adding small sticks to keep the fire going underneath, but it will burn. I once started a fire in the sleet during a campout in the winter time. It will take a while, but it will burn. Try putting cedar needles or pine cones in the fire as well, they will burn hot and start it as well.

The only way to get green &/or wet wood to burn is to set it on top of a fire that is really roaring. Then get out of the way, because it's going to pop like Don King Champagne.
