You cannot , they have to want to get clean. Sometimes they have to hit rock bottom before they go for treatment. They have to stay away from all of their druggie friends and basically start anew. If you want to do an intervention, I suggest you contact professionals in drug abuse and get some help.

This is very tough to deal with. It's hard to see a friend in that state of mind. Intervention comes to mind but if you do this, you need to hit him hard and fast; however, be very careful before you make this decision because you may lose a friend in the process. He/she may feel betrayed to some degree; although, you're thinking in this person's best interest, he/she will definitely not think the same way. The first thing I would recommend is get everyone who knows of this problem (friends and family) and try to discuss some amiable solutions. None will be easy but it's better you get advice from someone who has a vested interest in this.
Anyway, I hope everything works out for the best.

How do you get a cancer victim off of cancer? Drug use, alcoholism, anorexia are all illnesses. The difference is that all of the above can be beaten IF people like you care enough to help the afflicted....I respect your question and concern. Good luck!

if the friend lives with parents someone needs to tell the parents. It can be an anonymous note in the mail. Knowing about it is the start of dealing with it.
