I believe it's the mirror image of the "therefore" symbol. The "therefore" symbol is three dots arranged in a triangle, with the one dot on the top, and the other two below it. The "because" symbol is this just flipped so that the lone dot is on the bottom and the other two above it.
Sorry I can't explain it better than that. I'd draw it if I could.

2 dots on top and 1 dot below. Something like an inverted triangle but without the lines. Only dots.
By the way, 1 dot on top and 2 dots below means "Therefore".

Yeah, people have it right. Three dots forming the points of a triangle. If the triangle points up, it means "therefore". If the triangle points down, it means "because".

you could use <=, which would be the "implies" symbol backwards.
For example
a=b and b=c implies a=c
a=b and b=c => a=c
a=c <= a=b and b=c
a=c because a=b and b=c
