Well, I guess no one here going on the internet without knowing how to type. But your question should be, "whom can type fast "

most people took their first typing class during high school, but possibility they learn to speed up the typing by practice at work, or with their personal computer,

I learned how to type when it was still considered "typewriting" class. There were no back space buttons, click here, click there, or best of all, "short cuts." Yup, those were the days hearing the instructor directing the class, "A", "S", "D", "F", semicolon. That was one class where you learned something that is actually applicable in life. Typing is like riding a bike; you never forget.

I learned to type in high school on a (believe it or not) typewriter. Not electric or anything. Then when I started in the newspaper business, I put out my daily articles on an old IBM Selectric for the first year. Then we went computerized. I worked in journalism 13 years, and I type 90 words per minute.

I learned to type in high school. I had a spare elective class and figured that was where the girls would be. It turns out it was one of the most useful classes I took.

There used to be a program they had made us work on.. it was called 'Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing' with an invisible 'for retards' in brackets. The program's disregard for different hand capabilities made it harder for some people to type as much as it made it easier for some. The bad thing about it all was that we were graded.... for the use of such a program.
