My doctor induced me both of my pregnancies you just have to be far enough along and effaced so far before you can be induced

It depends on how close you are to your due date and if your cervix is dialating. Some doctors will, some won't. All three of my children were induced: the first one was 2 weeks overdue, the second one they induced a week early because of his size and the last one I got to pick the day.

Please understand that induction is not as nice as regular childbirth. Lots of women, myself included, get very sick from the meds they use to induce...I threw up, the contractions started out strong and were difficult to deal with.

Good Luck. I will you a happy and safe delivery!

it depends on how far along you are. If you are 38 weeks or more sure you can ask. My sister asked to be induced and even asked for a specific day to be induced and it was done for her due to her wanting a family member present (she was in her 40th week though) and the dr went ahead and induced her. I was induced with all of mine but I was preterm with three of them (born at 36 weeks 2 days, and the other two were born at 36 weeks 5 days). I was induced due to the fact that with the one born at 36 weeks 2 days I had fluid loss pretty bad and they wanted her out before it could cause harm. With the other two I hit 4 centimeters and was contracting so regular that my water was ready to break so they went ahead and did it for me and with my last child I also recieved pitosin(spelling) to increase the contractions due to no changes after having water broke. With my son, I was induced as well but I was 40 weeks and was contracting and my water sac was bulging.

If this is your first pregnancy, chances are they'll hold off until you're late. It can't hurt to ask though. I'm pregnant for the second time... and since my first labor was so fast, I'll be induced 10 days before my due date (my hospital won't induce any earlier than 10 days)... even though my first child was 12 days early.

It depends on the pregnancy, and the situation-but usually the doctor won't induce you unless you or your baby's health is at risk, or your pregnancy goes past the due date.(From what I've read, it's unsafe to carry your child longer then a week after their estimated date of birth-a miscarriage can result.) If your doctor tells you that he wants to induce you, and neither one of these conditions are present-I'd try to seek a second opinion before you let him do it!

It;s not a question of can she but will she..Some drs won;t because of malpractice if baby is too early. As a previous poster said you have to be doing something for the induction to work..It is not pleasant by any means and the pictocin makes the contractions harder and faster! You cannot move freely while in labor as you will be monitored constantly.. I ended up with a c-section due to fetal distress and failure to progress.

I'm not sure how is it in US but in Australia they can't induce you even if you beg them. They start inducing after two weeks of estimated due date(it's the law)

No you wont be induced until you are in danger from your health, or you become over due unfortunately! Hang in there, it is all worth it in the end, trust me! I went 3 weeks over due!

If you go pass your due date they will induce you. But as far as asking to be induce due to complications such as yours I highly doubt it. They only induce for emergency reasons and if you go pass your due date.
