Why people got married more in mid-year (May to August), and less in beginning-year (January-April) and lesser yet in years-end (September-December)? Is what is this called "Marriage Season"?

Well that depends on your religion/beliefs...

Typically human marry in June? I didn't lol....

Pagans Marry or do a "hand fasting" ritual on the Sabbat Lughnasadh... a Gaelic holiday celebrated on the full moon nearest the midpoint between the summer solstice and autumnal equinox, during the time of the harvesting.

Here are a few links that might help answer this question... good question I might add... I suppose you would say in a way that mating season is typically "night time"?

I am not a socialogist.. but I think that sounds like something that evolved based on geography and the climate really.. especially since the question that you asked made me realise how stark the difference is...
for example in India (which is where I am from), most marriages happen in winters (October - March) and kind of taper down in summers (April - Spetember). Infact the rainy season pretty much sees no marriages at all (atleast amongst the Hindus)
While religious connotations are attributed for these, I really think thats coz, India found it inconvenient to marry in summers (too hot maybe). Besides the rainy season might be the peak faming time when people did not want to be distracted from work...
By winters, most of the crops would be harvested and profits booked.. so people could afford to feel good and take the opportunity to frolic around...

my 2 cents!

mating and marriage are two different things. In the animal world mating is more cyclical and done for the purpse of procreating their kind. This then is why it is so predictable based on the particular animal and the season. With us marriage is based on love so really any time of year would be appropriate. Of course when it comes to making babies and you live in the colder climates then more babies are going to be born during summer. It would depend on the community at large and the various factors around that community. As well as the various Jobs that are held.

If either partner is going to be shipped out or known to be gone for quite a while then they are going to go at it and this could include a whole group at one time such as army personell. So on the base you would find you have a run on babies 9months after a group is shipped to war. (This as and example)

Traditionally tho marriages i believe are held in early summer or winter.

You've heard of "june Brides" This was a custom in Britian and later colonial america also( especially up north).

The reason being that people did not take baths but once a year, for several reasons; The lack of hot water; cold living conditions which required you to wear your clothes all winter, and the big one people simply did not hav emany clothes to wear and wore them all year. So it became a custom to marry every year in warm june when it was warm enough and the entire family took their bath (probley in the same water) . Thus the bride got married after her bath. This was the reason for so many "june Brides". So you could call this a marriage season of sorts.

Yes there is marriage season! But that does not apply to the whole Human species. It is different for different religions and different locations. Most marriages happen summers as it is the ideal time for HOLIDAYING. Perhaps you come from somewhere where MAY to Augest is summer. But ideally there is no restriction. Just like there is no restriction on the time to mate.....its just when u feel comfortable.

You know what, It might be like that in marriage because the couple is thinking about their guests. They want them to be comfortable and enjoy their special occasion with them. If you want to talk about mating....I think it is in the long cold hard winters. They just want to stay warm and cuddle and then it goes all the way. That's when me and almost all my girlfriends got pregnant around January and December.

Not many people want to get married in bad weather months. Traditionally, June has been the "wedding month", and it costs a lot too when you get married in the traditional summer months. I think summer is too hot and people are too busy to do weddings, not to mention the added expense. An early fall wedding is nice.

maybe weather has something to do with it? summer is best time for sun... winter is usually colder, more dreary... I think most people want to start a new life in sunny sunshine.
