Twenty minutes. Beyond that and your body starts to fall into deep-cycle sleep and you must stay there until the cycle is over in at least an hour or so. If you wake up during the deep cycle, you'll feel groggy for hours. I'm sure a lot of us know that feeling when the alarm goes off way too early ;)
But yes, to make it a really good nap, it needs to involve one full sleep cycle which is at least an hour. However a "Power Nap" can give you quite a boost of energy, as long as you don't overdo it and fall into that deep cycle.

RE:
What is the ideal amount of time for a power nap?
It is so hard to know how long you should nap for and it is easy to not get enough or sleep too much and feel even worse. Can you help me out here?

Wrong.
30-90 minutes for your body to complete it's cycle, as noted by Einstein, Nicola Tesla, and other geniuses.

Screw a nap. Do a hand-stand and take a dump. It sounds weird but it is refreshing.
