Is he short of breath at all? Maybe emphysema? I would more so believe it is a muscular thing though. Even if his spine is out of line a little, could cause pain like this upon activity..

Get him to a doctor as soon as you can. This could be a more serious problem with the heart. I'm no expert so I won't say much more but somoene I knew had this same thing (pain when doing strenous activity) and he was hospitalized for a bit. They fixed it and it went away, but he had to take it easy for a while.
Get to a doctor! It's better to be safe than sorry. It might be nothing, but then again it could be very serious and you might end up regretting you didn't get it checked out sooner.

Go see a doctor. It would be a sign of a heart attack or something on that line. But I once had chest pains it went away after a few days. Then I came back. Then it went away for 2 months and came back. I went to go see a doctor. After tests nothing appears to be wrong. So it could be nothing then again it could be life and death.

A pulled muscle is a possibility but so is bronchitis or pneumonia or a heart problem. Sounds like you should get off the computer and get on the phone with the doctor.

Chest pain during exertion means go to the doctor and get an EKG and a possible stress test to first rule out cardiac causes and angina. This is a must.
Then if that gets the all clear, we can talk about costochondritis. But please pack him up and bring him in..... then the docs will talk to you about other non cardiac nonemergency causes of chest pain.

Yes. This sounds like an internal injury. Have it check out by a medical doctor as soon as possible. It can be serious.

Get a doctor ASAP! He should have an ECG done to rule out any abnormalities and then the doctor will know where to proceed from there.

If this has been a lifelong problem, it's probably because he is holding his breath or not breathing correctly when he exerts himself.
I have asthma and when I run my chest will hurt in the areas you mention. I tend to hold my breath when I run or do anything physical...why, I do NOT know. haha

your answer is in your question. call a doctor. it's probably nothing (an infection like a cold can cause chest pain, so can asthma) but why would you risk it?
