I used to snore terribly, then I got diagnosed with sleep apnoea, and now I have to wear a mask that blows air inro your body while you sleep. General rules say you may have sleep apnoea if
1 you are overweight
2 you are middle aged
3 you snore loudly
4 you stop breathing in your sleep
5 you could fall aslep at any time of the day
If any of these fit you, go to your doctor

I have sleep apnea and it can be a serious ailment left untreated. If he is snorting loudly, stops breathing and then snorts even louder, falls asleep the minute sits quietly, he has it as well. He needs a doctors care and checkup at a sleep clinic soon. I had high blood pressure, would fall asleep in front of the computer, at a red light, anytime I sat down and it was because when I did sleep in bed, I quit breathing 60 to 70 times an hour. Of course then I would snort and rouse myself just enough to start breathing again, but not to wake up all the way. This was discovered when I went in for a medical test I had to be put to sleep for. I kept stopping to breath and they were very concerned. I was given a machine called a CPAP machine which fits over my nose and pushes air . I sleep like a log now, am refreshed in the morning and no longer have high blood pressure., which can be caused by sleep apnea. It can also be a factor in some heart conditions.

Have you tried those new Breathe-Right Strips? They stick on your nose and hold it open for hours. For some people they totally cure snoring.
If you only snore when on your back, you can sew a pocket into your PJs right between your shoulder blades. Then keep a tennis ball in the pocket while you sleep. Keeps you from sleeping on your back.
Ultimate cure is to see a surgeon. He can do some minor plastic surgery to reshape the inside of your throat.

Go to an Eye, Ears and Nose specialist. Get them to diagnosis the problem and tell you which remedy they would recommend. They probably will send you for a sleep test first unless they see visual signs of problems with your septum that can be corrected by surgery. I had septum deviation which was corrected by a surgeon and I haven't snored since. If you are diagnosed with something like sleep apnea then they will put you on a C-pap machine which will correct the problem. The main thing is to start with a doctor who can find and diagnosis the source of the problem.

yeah, it depends on the severity of it. You should be able to get tested and maybe suggest a cpap machine. A cpap machine calms the snoring and help you to sleep better and feel rested because I am sure you are tired at some point.

DO NOT insert tampons up your nose. A guy died by doing that.
Try drinking less beer (I know, I'd rather snore as well)

Talk to your General Practitioner about visiting a sleep clinic. It could be a result of a serious underlining illness/condition. Maybe your tonsils are too big, as it was in my case. It's impossible to even try to diagnose on-line. Talk to your doc.. ~good luck honey!

I would not use really puffy pillows that close your throat when lying on your back. It often helps to get checked for sleep disorders, and have a sleep study done. See your docotor, as loss of sleep can be bad for both of you and can result in memory loss and other psychological problems.
