Dallas - San Antonio. They have a bunch of each others ex-teammates and EVERY game matters when they play eachother. In fact, every single game matters because they are constantly in a race for the top of the west. With the playoff format how it is, it matters even more. Plus, they've been knocking eachother out of the playoffs for years. Gotta have some history for the top rivalry.
Close second is Indiana -Detroit, but with both teams slipping in terms of competitiveness, it's not the top rivalry anymore.
The newly renewed Deroit - Chicago rivalry is going to be crazy, especially with both teams playing a very similar style. This will probably be the rivalry of the year.
Miami - Houston has the makings of a great rivalry if both teams are healthy. They have similar team make ups, Jeff Van Gundy learned under Pat Riley, and they battled it out for years in the old Miami - New York rivalry. And then there's that whole Shaq - Yao thing... not to mention TMac - Wade...

If you're talking BEST rivalry, it has to be the Suns - Lakers. No fights actually occurred but there were lots of instances where things could've gotten out of hand. The MVP can't stand it when Sasha guards him for some reason and Smush seems like he has his number. Raja can't stand Kobe for whatever reason and Kobe being the guy he is, just pokes fun at him saying "Maybe he wasn't hugged enough as a child!" The Lakers will be a better team next year and so will the Suns. There is definitely some bad blood there and it would be a great series if they met again in the 'OFFS.

There are no real, heated rivalries left, not like back in the day when you had truly nasty rivalries like the Lakers-Celtics or the Knicks-Heat. There are a bunch of media-created rivalries that just come and go quickly, but they just don't have the same nastiness. There really aren't any left that rise to the level of pure hatred that once existed.

It was Detroit vs. Miami, but now that Ben Wallace is in Chicago....I'd have to look for a new rivalry. What about Pheonix and the L.A. Lakers? Did you see that clothesline that Raja Bell dropped on Kobe in the playoffs. Could be the start of something?

Best rivalry maybe now is Clips-Lakers as finally Clips fans can show up and not feel like second-class citizens so much.

all of you are crazy. It's definately the Pacers and the Pistons, and i can back that up. THE MALACE IN THE PALACE. If you get 2 teams throwing punches at each other, better yet at the fans, it's pretty crazy. It has to be them. they've never been the same against each other since. In fact they never were too good of friends even before that. For the record, the Pacers won that fight

I think it is Mavs-Spurs. They have met in the playoffs 2 of the past 3 years, and this last one was a great series
