Diverticles are abnormal cavities sprouting from the digestive tube, may appear on any part of it, esophagus, stomach, intestine, etc. These cavities are connected to the tract and they tend to accumulate digestive matter, it decays and rots, giving you diverticulitis, (inflammation of a diverticuli). They need surgery to be eliminated.
