NO I DO NOT
Because you guys have NO IDEA that there is a real world out here. Oh you know there is something out here, but you feel you have a right to make it do what you want; to inflict your own obscene morals and values upon it and to make it accept that "The American way" is best. Well here is the news, THE AMERICAN WAY IS ONE WY< BUT IT IS NOT THE BEST WAY, not for the rest of us anyway, so go home and leave the rest of us alone will ya?

I'm 27, from Scotland and I don't like Americans in general, although I like some Americans I've met.

I find Americans to be:
brainwashed by their government.
Unaware of the real world & political situation.
Unaware of other countries achievements
Convinced they won the 2nd world war
fat
ignorant
un-travelled
they chant U S A, U S A like it's a good thing
They poke their noses into other governments afairs
They hate the French for no good reason
they claim they are free, but aren't
they are gun nuts
they revel in violence
They are ignorant of culture & sophistication
They are ignorant of others cultures
They believe the US$ is currency world wide
They believe the English have bad teeth (they don't)
They charge their own citizens for health care
They are racist, as a country
THEY THINK ENGLISH/AMERICAN IS A LANGUAGE - I mean how stupid is that?
They voted in a war monger
Actually the first time they didn't even vote him in, but they still let him off with it - but when a president get a BJ from his aide, well they impeach him for lying!!!!!!!!! What was that we were told about Iraqs WMD - all they had was some sticks and a bow & arrow.

I could go on all day, really I could, and I will if you want me to. But that's enough to get started with

I can't stop adding to this list:
They have MASSIVE poverty and but do nothing to help their citizens
they let a black city of theirs be destroyed
They claim the above was gods retribution
They blindly say they love America just because that's where they are from - what happened to criticism of the system, holding government to account? I might be British but that doesn't mean I love Britain, there's loads wrong, but at least we aren't as fucked up as America is.

Yeah, I like most of the American's I've met, though some can be very moronic at times. Okay, most can be moronic. Why do I like Americans? Well, I guess it's because I live here, and all my friends were either born or raised in America. I'm from Texas, USA. And I'm 13.

Though the government is more moronic then the people. =P

"No!
Because they are so stupid to vote GWB in, not once, but twice - how thick is that!!!"

Ahem. First off, not everyone voted George W. back into office. Second, this was after he started the war. Some people might have voted him back because he had a plan for the war.

Just as a side note, I don't support the war.

And it's funny at how many people are making generalizations here. Though the majority (or at least the part that other countries see) of America are stubborn, and closed minded.

Like everyone else, Americans are also human beings and they have their faults, but on the other hand, they do a lot of good. I can't generalize, but I can say that I like most of the Americans that I have come across. The question was not about liking America but Americans and like any other country, there are good ones and bad ones. I am originally from the Caribbean but is now called an American. I can be as young or old as you think I am.

Why are there at least 100 questions like this on here every day? And why, if you are so interested in this, don't you just take the time to look up previous answers??? I guess like everyone else you are just out to attract people who like to stereotype, or simply enjoy slagging people off anonymously. There are over 250 million Americans out there - how the heck can anyone say they are all bad people??? America has some of the best Universities in the world (Columbia, Princeton, Harvard, Cornell, NYU, Yale, Stanford, Caltech, etc, etc)- and last time I checked they were full of students, surely not all foreigners. So how can anyone say all Americans are stupid? How insulting is this to all the American people who worked hard and successfully to get to where they are today? As for the American Government- first time GWB was voted into power, no one could predict what would happen in the future. Second time around, I guess a lot of people just wanted him to finish the job he started, rather than voting somebody else in to clean up the mess. The problem was also that a lot of people, who maybe would not have voted for him, could not be bothered to get up their backsides to vote at all. Same problem in most countries. And then it's those people who can't even be arsed to tick a few boxes on a sheet of paper, who complain the most about the government. Well, they've had their chance and threw it away.
So, as for your question '' Do you like Americans?'' - I've met many lovely people in America, I've met many annoying people in America. Some Americans my hubby has to work with are terrible bullies, trying to get away with anything. The American lady I once worked with was one of the kindest, warmest, most caring people I've ever met. Some Americans I spoke to didn't seem to have a clue about the world outside their borders, asking the weirdest questions. Other Americans travel the world and embrace other cultures. People are people, where ever you are. Some are good, some are bad. I understand why some would never leave their country to 'discover the world outside', I mean, why would they? Their own country is full of so many amazing thing, that it would take a lifetime to see them all! And as for their national pride - what's wrong with loving where you are from? Sure, some might take it too far, believing they are superior to everyone else, but again - that happens everywhere! Also, the more you attack something a person loves, the more defensive they will become. By posting questions like this you will attract many 'anti-american' comments, and in return many, many more 'pro- american' comments that my seem arrogant, but are only a natural response. Same with every other nationality/religion/culture.

I love Americans. Because I consider myself a proud one. That's why. I think the rest of the world gives us a very unfair rep. Its not like we are just dying to come to their country. But I do know one thing, I have traveled all over the world and every American Embassy I been to, the locals are lining up by the hundreds to get visas to come to our country. We must have something good over here, right! I can tell you what that something is, my friend. Its the people of America. We Americans fascinate the rest of the world.

For your information, I am originally from India, who immigrated to American as a teenager. I never felt more at home because of the warmth of the people. I also lived in the UK for 4 years before coming to the States, and I do remember how much the snotty British hated outsiders back then. Look at how ridiculous the English are now. Following us Americans like puppy dogs.

I am 53 and have lived most of my last 39 years in and out of the USA. Currently my family and I are in the Persian Gulf because of my work. We are so looking forward to be going back home some day soon.

And oh hey, god bless America!

Very amusing that the majority of 'like Americans' are American...

Too general a question though - if I met every American I'd like some and dislike others. Generally speaking, I like Americans, but most Americans need to realise there's more to life than America....

Oh, the other bit - I'm a thirty-something Brit.

I have answered other questions on this subject. I am British and there's a few in my own country I don't like and like anywhere else in the world, there are some Americans I don't like, but I'm not going to tar them all with the same Bush!

I like americans as much as I like any person of any another nationality. I judge people on their merits not where they come from. I have met some great Americans and some not so great ones. But I can say that about any nationalities.

I am an Aussie & I am 33 in 3 days.

Yes i like Americans, i'm British and like most people do not always agree with what is going on in the world, but at the end of the day, we are all individuals and deserve to be treated as such and not lumped together, you cannot blame everyone for one or two peoples mistakes. I'm 32 and proud to say i'm from England.

I HATE most wealthy Americans, they get away with things that non-wealthy people can never get away with. How many millionaires are on death row???? Businesses want access to their trade and suck up to them. Most Americans are like the ones in the movie "United 93" I am an American and I don't want to state my age, sorry, part of my American nature that if i don't want to do something, I won't
