I don't think anything is wrong with being friends with a teenage mother or dating one. I think there is a stigma attached to teenage mothers because of the risk that was taken by having unprotected sex and having a child at such a young age. What people don't seem to stigmatize are that many teenagers that are having sex, protected or not. I think it is not stigmatized because it can't be seen like a pregnant teenagers belly and what people can't see sometimes goes ignored. Bottom line is many people of all different ages, unfortunately, are still having unprotected sex and having babies. It doesn't mean they are bad people even if people think they made a bad decision.

No, there is nothing wrong with being friends with a teenage mother.
However, and this may not be all cases, but...
People may look down on teenage mothers b/c they are older and realize how difficult and expensive it is to raise a family.
The choice the teenage girl made to raise a baby all alone will make it harder to get through college and therefore, her chances of getting a better paying job are significantly reduced.
How is this girl, still a child herself, going to grow up and raise and care for a baby, alone. It is not an easy road to travel. Imagine trying to get through college, with minimum $50K in costs, working part time and trying to care for a baby, which is a full-time job in itself. It is not a pretty life and something in this picture is going to suffer. It is extremely difficult to do it all and do it well.
As for the person dating a single teenage mother, that may be an issue as they are probably too young themselves to become a father and husband prior to going to college.
So, dating a single teenage parent is a lot of responsibility and it would be a rare teenage boy who would take that on and really be in it for the long haul. The real father of the child didn't even take it on, so why should another boy step up and suffer in his life?
Teenagers should wear a condom, not just to avoid pregnancy, but to avoid disease. And that message should apply to everyone having sex.

People look down on teenage mothers because 99% of the time they do not have the maturity, life experience, emotional or financial stability it takes to properly care for a child. Not saying they can't get by, but they are not what society feels is an ideal candidate for motherhood.
Being friends with or dating a single mother must be your own decision, but just know that there will be people who will criticize because they don't want you to follow in the same path.

A baby needs a lot of attention and affection. A teenager needs the same thing. When a teenager has to grow up fast they loose a lot of there life. Going to school and graduating with friends going out anytime they want. Going to college full time. It is just harder. It is not the teenager we are woried about it is the baby.
