If you mean the thing they put where they shine the light into your eyes and the doctor looks through the lens on the other side, its called an ophthalmoscope.

The thingy has been called by many names (the doohicky, that thingamabobber, or the whatsit) but its formal name is the whatchamacalit. LOL
