The SIM card should come free when you sign up for a rate plan or prepaid service. The SIM card will also have a phone number attached to it.

You will need to check to see whether your phone is able to accept Cingular SIM cards. Cingular should be able to tell you this -- or you can see if it is on your phone somewhere. Many times phones are locked so that they will only accept SIM cards from the company that sold you the phone, which in this case would be the person who sold it to you on ebay. You could either sign up for cell phone service from the company that locked the phone to work only on its network, or you could try to find the codes on the internet for unlocking your phone so you can use it on any network. Good luck.

You need to subscribe to a cell phone service to get a sim card. But all phones are not compatible with all cell phone services, some don't even use sim cards. And with most services you have to buy one of their phones anyways. A sim card contains all you own phone number and personal info. it's how the companies track minute usage. Good Luck with that. Does the phone have a cell phone company name on it?
