Hi!

"Wait Till Helen Comes" by Mary Downing Hahn freaked me out when I was ten/eleven... and it still does.

As a teeneager, most any book by author Christopher Pike traumatized me... I could not sleep for weeks. Here are some of his books:
--"Die Softly"
--"Remember Me"
--"Witch"
--"Whisper of Death"
--"Road to Nowhere"
--"Bury Me Deep"
Oh! and a book called "Monster".. creepy...

T.

It wasn't Stephen King surpringly. The scariest book I ever read was Faery Tale by Roaymond Feist, an almost overlooked book. It was very creepy, however, and had a few geniune scary moments that made wet ice swish in your stomach. See Stephen King beat that.

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.

It's about Dracula.

In fact, the original Dracula by Bram Stoker is very frightening too. Just sampling a few sentences from it would make the hair at the back of my neck stand.

You must find Stephen Kings self-acknowledged Master of horror: H.P. Lovecraft - meticulously crafted horror stories, better than Poe, the true beginning of the horror genre. Start with Mountains of Madness.

Desperation by Stephen King;
After reading this book I went to my book case and remove all of my Stephen King novels (about 14) and packed them up to throw them away. My aunt saw me and took them from me. It took me four years before I started reading Stephen King again! That book seriuosly messed me up!

Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews

The movie was also creepy. If I see if on tv, I can't watch. It's too disturbing.

I don't find books to be scary. I hate scary movies, won't watch them ever, but books don't scare me.
