I'm assuming you're meaning fitting in with *other gothic people*.
You'll just be sneered at if you try too hard to fit in. Be who you really are, and if you're cool (cool like "keep your cool"), you'll easily find like-minded friends.
Okay, the real advice:
Learn as much about gothic music, gothic clothing, key people in the scene, alternative fashion models, history of the scene, gothic night clubs, gothic and horror authors, gothic artists, popular gothic websites, and fashion trends within the scene...as you can.
You don't have to like *any* of it. You don't even have to listen to / wear / read / or care about any of it. You just have to KNOW about it.

If you're a goth you don't fit in, unless you have friends that are goth. Then obviously you fit in with them. Other than that goth isn't about fitting in. And if that's who you are then that's all that matters whether you're goth or not. Don't worry about what other people think about you. All that matters is what you think of yourself. Just be you and try to happy in this crazy world the best you can and you'll find people that like you for you and you'll fit in with them.

The basic face of a goth is a non conformists.
If you want to fit in some where and don't feel like you fit in with the goths, then maybe you need a little alone time to consider who you are and what you really want to do with your self.

It is not the purpose of Goths to "fit in" but to fit beyond!
We are true to ourselves above that which others find as the current fad.

i mean, isn't the whole point of goth to be non-conformist and not fit into the preppy mold?
or is it just some morbid fascination with the color black and goths really want to fit in just like everyone else?
