Just for fun I am writing a fantasy story but can't come up with names for the kingdoms. I need two decent names for two kingdoms. One is a kingdom known for their courageous and skilled warriors. The kingdom was founded by overthrowing a tyrant and pushing barbarians behind the mountains to the north.
The second kingdom is known for their wealth with rich fertile lands and a strong economy. They were a poor nation till the recent wars had subsided. They have a princess known for beauty and kindness that draws the admiration around the world.

I try to come up with names, but they always sound kind of cheesy.

The former kingdom could be named Bellicosity (bellicose means war-like).
The latter kingdom could be named Opulence (which means prosperity).

Good luck with your story! : )

Ravenscotia for your first kingdom

and

Petalfirma for the second

Your names probably sound no less cheesy than mine sound to me, but as the author, you are probably your own worst critic.

Why don't you list the ones that you have come up with and we will determine which is the least cheesiest and most fitting for each of the kigdoms in your story.

And yes - we sincerely mean good luck (I do, anyway)!

Most of these stories use Gaelic or Welsh sounding names. Why not try something Asian sounding or from Meso-America? Then the story will take on a slightly different flavor. The warriors can use different weapons and tactics.

Machaire
Moyard
Noire
Dunham
Lowethorpe
Gilshire

I'm not sure these are exactly "kingdom" names. They remind me of British 'territory' names. They're just some of the words I had left over from one of the stories I've been writing.

Olion, which sounds like a smart-person's name (cause its like Latin or something), and Krager, which is more Norse/Barbarian-type. These would probably work batter as names of people, thoough.
